INDUSTRY OVERVIEW:

Bangladesh is largely dependent on the Ready Made Garments (RMG) sector. Bangladesh's garments exports industry alone comprised USD 28094.16 million in FY 2015-16 which is 82.01 % of the total exports. There are 4328 factories today in Bangladesh with 4.00 million employees. This knit garments industry earns a staggering USD 12797.26 million every year from its export. With the huge growth and success in this sector little effort has been put into action on the printing of the exported knitwear. Currently being one of the largest exporters of knit garments in the world, Bangladesh lacks grip on the printing solutions required for this industry to generate more revenue. The raw materials of these textiles printing, like the printed cloth materials come directly from abroad. A lot of orders are refused every year as Bangladesh lacks the technology and skilled manpower required to textile printing in Bangladesh. Due to this absence of solution providers in textile printing industry, Bangladesh now imports products and printing solutions from China and India, as they are the regional leaders in this industry. Even there is no single printing studio in Bangladesh to support manufacturers to get hands on experience on printing products. Bangladesh loses a fair amount of revenue every fiscal year due to high processing and importing charges to import printing solutions from abroad. Currently only a mere percentage of companies in Bangladesh provide textile printing solutions with their quality of work still well below global standard. Considering the huge scope of business, some of these regional leaders have shown interest to provide end to end printing solution service with a setup of world class printing studio in the Bangladeshi textile printing sector. This can be a mutually beneficial relationship for the both the Bangladeshi RMG industry and the printing solution providers as the scope of business will add another jewel in the crown of the already booming RMG industry of Bangladesh.
